I had to have tah because of fibroids. I was told in Jan. I had fibroid the size of 10 weeks. Well never having kids I wasn't sure what that ment so I had my Doctor show me with his hands. I was kinda thrown back at frist. So he had me go for ultrasound, that showed one big one and many others. So 6months after this went for another check up, I was now at 18 weeks. The whole time I knew that a TAH was possable but it never freaked me out or made me nervious. Then he told me that now I needed it and I felt kinda silly cause the whole time he was talking to me I was fighting back tears. I didn't then and still don't feel like having this makes me less of a woman. So I went home told my husband,he didn't really know what to say but promised me everything will be ok and that he would take good care of me. I called my Mom and her and I went out for a few drinks and talked.
I ended up having surgery Aug.29th. On 8-27 my last night at work my co-workers (3of them guys lol) threw me a hysterectomy party! It was so fun, we had lots of food and we even wore party hats.lol They gave me some really nice green tea shower gel. It was so thoughtful that it brought tears to my eyes. From the time I found out I had to have surgey to time of surgery the guys I worked with were pretty comfortable taking about. Not that I talked to them alot about it but they did walk in on conversations between me and the other women. They even made me a good luck banner that my husband hung in my room. My party was the talk of the shop, people came back to our dept. just to see for themselves and there we all were with our party hats on.LOL The support I got from my family and friends was wounderful and help me more than they can imagine. I love them all. Oh yes after surgery my Doc told me that I had over 50 tumors and two of them were bigger than the one I knew of and I had a tear in my uteris and endometrious.(excuse spelling lol)I am so lucky though because even though I had all this I wasn't having any problems except for getting tired and from the terriable stories other women have told me I consider myself very lucky. I was amased at how common fibroids are. It's been 3 weeks now since surgery and I am doing great. I wish everyone luck with their recovery. One last thought, don't you get so bored with taking it easy sometimes? lol Oh well me must becarful.

good luck, Debbie Ann
