Well I am going to tell my story of my visit so here it goes.
The reason behind me having a hysterectomy was not because of pain or heavy bleeding it was because of severe precancer. I was told to be at the hospital for 9:00am and my surgery was at 11:10. I got checked in and changed into some really fashionable evening wear.LOL They then gave me a preg test which I knew was going to be Neg but you have to humor them.
I was then wheeled down to the operating waiting room in my bed. There I was treated like royalty! warm sheets and they started the I.V It was painless to my surprise. I visited with my DH and then my Dr came to talk to me and see how I was doing. I was sooo relaxed and calm, I kept thinking that this was it no more waiting and wondering. The anestisiologist(sp) came by and asked for my name and to spell it(at least he double checked info) and asked what I was there for and who would be performing the surgery. I figured that this was to check my state of mind.
Off I go, say my "see ya" to my hubby and into the operating room. I was introduced to the TEAM and was given my lala drugs and that was that.
Next thing I remember was discomfort and an itchy nose(reaction to morphine) I was then wheeled up to my room where I dozed on and off for the next few hours. I requested some ginger ale for my upset stomach which didn't stay down long so my DH asked that I be given a shot of gravol. From there on till the next morning it was a breeze. I was in the hospital less than 24hrs and I didn't feel like I needed to be there any longer.
Now at home with my hubby and 2 little boys things are really good. They are doing everything for me. I rest when I feel like I need to but really I am feeling terrific!
I did have a TVH which my Dr says is the best thing if you can do it. I have had a little bit of gas, very little blood and am only taking 2 advils every 6hrs.
I hope that my experience relieves some of the anxieties with those LIW. The wait was the WORST part and I figure everything is better from here.
Take Care and best wishes to all!!
