Well, it started the night before surgery. I had to take Exlax you know. I couldn't stand the pain from running to the bathroom. Then to wake and start my day getting ready for a complete hysterectomy. My husband was making jokes before surgery. During surgery I woke out twice, once in a lot of pain to be put back out and then when they where pulling the tube out of my mouth. Then they put me back under. I awoke in alot of pain. The nurses helped me get my pain under control. The doctor wanted to talk but i was not in the listening mood, I wanted to sleep. When I came to the next day I was ready to hear how long it took, to my surprise 2 hours. I was doing great. I started passing gas but no bowel movement. But I went home on the 3rd day eating soft foods. After 4 days still no bowel movement even with all the walking I can do. Nothing until the 4th night. I started thowing up non-stop. In a lot of pain. Went to the ER to have them take X-RAYS of my stomach and bowel, and everything looked good. But I couldn't keep nothing down for 2 days after that, it would all come back up. So I spent 5 days in the cattels and got my staples removed. Thank God for that, they hurt while they were in and when they are coming out. After that the doctor ordered a chalk drink and a bowel mover to make the bowels move. OH THE PAIN. But 3 days later I was making bowel movements but it took 45 minutes to get it out. But I got it done. 3 wks later I am now fighting with my scare bleeding and leaking. My trips to the hospital seem to be like vacations into pain. My nurses were all great and even they sat with me and took me to see the new babies born and talked with me about my feeling. I never felt alone with my nurses. Thank God for nurses. Today in my 3rd week I am in a lot of pain and have my heating pad near by and a pain killer. I fight to keep infection down and away. I can't wait until I feel like a brand new woman. I am only 26 years old. A brand new woman -- I hope that happens soon.
