I had my surgery done in Jan 1998 when I just turned 37.
It was a decision that didn't take long to make because I had a fibroid so big I was bleeding all the time. I was anemic, tired, pale and my hemoglobin count was very low.
The surgery went so well because I was anxious to have my life back again and I trusted the surgeon and all the great people at The Woman's College Hospital in Toronto.
My husband and I did not plan on having children so it was not hard for me to overcome the trauma. I was recovered in 4 weeks but took an extra week off work.
I worked hard to get better. I was out walking around as soon as I came home. I never did housework anyways so that was no problem!
The only thing now is that I have developed a cyst which has burst 3 times and when it acts up sex is painful.
I want to say that I have the best husband in the world. He took care of me through the entire crisis and he waited for me during the surgery. I am very happy now. Right after that I took up the guitar and I have found that I have a natural talent for it. I would never have done that if this had not happened to me.
For those who feel blue afterwards I can only wish them strength and the power to look ahead and that life is great!
