I made it home yesterday from the Castle! My castle stay was a delightful one......

I went in on Wednesday the 23rd at 6am for my surgery. Due to my latex allergy I was first on the list!! Everyone was very informed of my allergy and very aware of it, so they took all the precautions necessary to protect me. I felt so special. I even had my own special OR and a cabinet outside my room for all my NON-Latex needs!!

Surgery went really well. My only problems had arrisen after surgery, just as I was leaving recovery going to my room. I had a reaction to the morphine that they were giving me. For some reason, each and everytime I would try to go to sleep I would quit breathing. My oxygen count would dive into the low 70s or even high 60s. This would cause me to quit breathing, and I would feel really light headed as if I were gonna pass out, or just coming out of a fainting spell or somehting like that. After a couple of hours of my mom arguing with them about this (she is a nurse) she finally started calling them each time it would happen. They weren't concerned at first, because the nurses would know until my mom and dh told them when ever they came to check on me. They kept tell them that I was okay and was going to be fine. My mom and dh finally started pushing that little button to call the nurse each time it would happen. They finally started getting the picture and then decided to do something about it.

They finally gave me a med that counteracted the morphine to clear it all out of my system. Let me tell you, when that happens, you definately know about it.....the pain starts coming back!! OUCH!! Anyways, after it was cleared out of my system, they gave me new meds which helped a great deal. The since I was still in such high pain when they started my new med, the nurse thought should would give me one more dose of morphine.....which then all my problems started back up.......go figure!! Finally all was taken care of and I was good to go.

I had my catheter taken out Thursday morning, got my shower and started moving around. The nurses did nothing but praise me and wished all their other patients were like me and getting out walking around as the doc had ordered them to do. The were very pleased with me and my dh. Heck, it made me feel better to get out and walk around, to get out of the darn room. I even went to go my own water, when I wanted more.

I was ready to go by Friday the 25th. The doc came and saw me before 8 am and told me as soon as the nurses got my paperwork together, I was free to go......yeah yeah yeah!!

I had a very pleasant stay with my nurses at my castle. They were all so very nice to me, even got me midnight snacks when I couldn't sleep and would talk to me during the night off and on when I was wide awake and dh was sleeping..... so very nice!

They were also very pleased that I was well informed about all that happened, and was going to happen.....and I wouldn't have known any of it, if I hadn't found this website......thanks ladies!!

This is truly the best website to come to for all your hysterectomy questions and just info needed or wanted......
