Hi all here is my story,
Day before bowel prep-Yuck I hate that Magnesium, and I had to drink 2 bottles.I went in at 6am. I was greated by my Doctor and the anesthiologist (I had requested to get lala juice as soon as I walked in the door for nerves). The staff was fantastic and before I knew it I was hooked up to the I.V. and ready for the Valium. DH says as soon as they injected I was gone. I had an epidural and will never have a general again thanks to this sites info.
I woke up in recover hooked up to my wonderful PCA pump. I was alert, not nauseated and relaxed. The first day was sore but I can not say painful. My wonderful nurse William took such good care of me. He brought me warm disposable wash clothes when ever I woke up,helped me to sit up on the bed the first night and gave me lots of water.
Day 2 the pump ran out and I have not taken pain meds since. I was up and walking every 2 hours which helped a lot and on solid food. The IV was disconnected and I was doing well.
I stayed 4 days mainly because I am a cancer patient but Doc is over cautious. By day 4 I was begging to go home and she agreeded. I have been taking it easy and am taking the advise of the sisters who came before me.
I can honestly say the gas pain has been the worst thing to me and the Gasx and walking really are helping with that

Thank you to all the sisters who have helped me through this stressful time. I am here for anyone who has questions or just needs to talk. D.J.
