Hi Everyone,
I just found this site about a week ago, and I would like to share my story.
This is a long one, but it will feel good to get it all out to women who can understand where I am coming from.
On Saturday, October 7, 2000 I was at work and I was telling one of my coworkers how I felt like I had really bad gas, and I left it at that. By the time I got home about 2 hours later I was still in pain, and it was getting worse. Finally around midnight my boyfriend talked me into going to the emergency room. By the time I got there I was in such intense pain I thought I was going to die. The doctors did some blood and urine tests on me, and gave me a shot for the pain and sent me home.
By the next morning I was even worse than the night before, and didn't have the strength to get out of bed. Once again, by the persuasion of my boyfriend back to the ER we went.
And this time by the time I got there I had no idea what was going on. I was admitted and immediately given massive amounts of pain medicine. The doctors eventually came to find out that I had a massive pelvic mass that had abcessed, and that I had to have a TAH if I wanted to live. The only thing I know is that I went in on a Sunday night, was on massive amounts of antibiotics and pain medication for the next four days. I had surgery performed with the consent of my mother because they had me so heavily medicated on that Friday at noon. I was in intensive care for 2 and a half days before coming out of it on Sunday night, and that is when I faced the truth and actually found out that I had undergone this surgery. I almost had to have a colostomy. I was very sick, and in the hospital for 11 days. When I was finally released I had visiting nurses coming for the first week I was home.
I am a 26 year old woman who never was blessed with the chance to give birth. I have been having a very hard time emotionally, mentally, and physically. I am so glad that I found this site. I look forward to giving and receiving support.
Thank you for listening!
