Hello! My name is Sonja. I currently live in beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii! Kenosha, Wisconsin is my home town. I hope to return someday! I REALLY miss it there.
After an abusive marriage and divorce I met and married my current husband who serves proudly in the United States AIR FORCE. He's spent two tours in the Gulf once in each war! We have been married for 7 wonderful funfilled and exciting years. I thank God for him every day!
In July '05 we will be re-deployed to another assignment. I have no idea where we will go but I hope it's somewhere nice! Actually, I think I am ready for somewhere cold! I think I "keep" better in the cold!
I've had 2 miscarriages and 2 c-sections resulting in the birth of my two sons. My oldest is 20 and my youngest is 19. They are 17 months apart! They live their own lives in the mainland. I'm very proud of them!
I also have a 17 year old step-daughter who lives with us.
She's the daughter I always wanted. I am very proud of her as well!
Two months after the birth of my second child I had a DandC due to heavy bleeding/periods lasting 25 days a month! The DandC helped for a while but things got bad again. Fast forward, 18 years later, I was being tested for MS/neuropathy symptoms when an MRI and CT SCAN showed 2 large growths on my ovaries. My CA-125 test was very high! My primary doctor, neurologist, GYN and GYN/ONC were cautiously optimistic. The news was mainly bad.
I was scheduled and went in for my hysterectomy expecting to have a section of bowel removed along with everything else. To my GYN and GYN/ONC's and mine/my husbands surprise there was no cancer found in me. I thank God for this. My prognosis was not good! I believe in the power of prayer. I had a prayer chain going spanning from Florida to Hawaii! I truly believe this is what saved me!
My surgery resulted in a TAH/BSO and several pre-cancerous nodes removed as well.
I have a 100 lb. Lab/Border Collie/possible dalmation mix whom I adopted while we were stationed in Ohio. She is my fur-baby!
I used to manage a pet store but, have been unable to work for the past 2 and a half years due to my neuropathy which gets progressively worse each day. Before the pet store I worked as a teacher's aide in elementary school. I worked in First & Fourth grades,Special ED, Library and Reading. I enjoyed working both places very much!
I love to write as you can tell and I really love to help people! I have great compassion for people. They make the world go 'round!
Some things I enjoy are: Spending time with my family. Picnics on the beach, Watching Green Bay Packer's play football on TV (or being at a game!) cooking, baking, gardening & walking my dog!
I am thankfull for this web-site. I didn't have but one day to research everything before my surgery and this is where I ended up all night reading everything I could. It helped me very much during my dificult time. I am honored to be able to give something back to HysterSisters being a hostess and helping anyone I can!
"Mahalo"! (Hawaiian for thank you).
