I had my surgery (TVH) on 3/21, after three years of abnormal pap smears and two LEEPs. I must say, the surgery was a breeze. Went to the hospital on Tuesday morning and went home Thursday morning. I was a basket case before the surgery as I had never been in the hospital before for any reason. Reading all these posts helped so much. Everything went pretty much as I expected. The day of the surgery was fairly unpleasant, with quite a bit of back pain. I did have the morphine pump, but for some reason probably didn't click it as much as I could or should have. After that first day, I have had virtually NO PAIN. I took a couple of percocet after I got home, but mostly just to help me sleep. Friday I walked around the block, Saturday I walked about 6 blocks and yesterday I went out to a nursery to buy some garden stuff and visited a friend. I do get tired with very little activity, but I was so worried that I would be in constant pain after the surgery and that has just not been the case. I've also had no problems with gas or constipation. To all you LIWs: the waiting is really the worst part (and maybe those 6-8 hours after the surgery!). I was released to drive after two weeks, and returned to work after 2 and a half weeks. Thanks to everyone on this board for all the support and info. This is a great site!
Julie
