Well I am so glad that my surgery is done...I had mine on Nov. 8th and I am feeling much better... The trip to the hospital was really short...but for some reason I wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be...Got to the Hospital at 8am and my surgery didn't start until around 11am...it lasted 3 and 1/2 hours..The staff in pre-op were great...they explained everything they were going to do...from IV to shaving to giving me the med to calm you down before surgery.. my anesthesiologist was really nice...he told me what to expect....well in the operating room I remember them telling me to take a few deep breathes and I would be in a nice sleep...I remember breathing in twice and then the next thing I remember was waking up in the recovery room...my nurse was great...she was surprised that I was so alert....I was in recovery a little longer cause they kept giving my room away and my poor family didn't know where I would end up...the nurses were alright....My dr. removed everything....cervix and all...he said I had 2 tumors instead of just 1....the largest weighed 5 lbs...the smaller one weighed 1 lb and my uterus was 5 lbs...He said someone was watching over me cause he was sure I had the start of cancer...My Ca-125 was 74....when they biopsied these the dr. said if I would have waited 2 more weeks I would have been on chemotherapy....as for the pain....they gave me a morphine drip and I came to the conclusion I could never be a drug addict...morphine made me feel like something was crawling and biting me...finally they gave me some Benadryl and it helped a little...dr. was a little upset cause they left my IV and my catherter in longer than they should...then he really hit the ceiling when he found out I had had nothing to eat since the day before my surgery...Tues. they were supposed to give me liquid diet but I never saw it...that Wed...he came in said what in the world and went out to find the nurse...He told her to get the morphine pump, Iv and catherter out of me...He told me he was going to order me a hamburger himself so that I could go home...Well I got chicken, potatoes, gravy, pears, and a roll...I ate as much as I could and kept it down...All I wanted to do was go home...finally I got to go...Yesterday...Nov. 22nd I went and had my staples removed...Yippeee!!!!!!!!.....now all I have on it is steri-strips..I go back Dec. 6th for my follow-up....All in all I am glad that I had it done..... Someone was watching over me....This site has been very helpful and I would like to say Thanks for the card..I opened my email on the day of my surgery and I went to the hospital with a good attitude...
Debbie
