I am about to celibrate the 1yr anniversary of my hysterectomy and low and behold I found this website. Tomorrow it will be one year since I got my surgery and I can not tell you how happy I have been this past year!!! One full year pain free and let me tell you the cramps were unbearable.
I will keep this short, I just wanted to say that besides some not so attentive nurses all went well for me and I recovered quite nicely. My Doctor was awesome and he made very sure I knew what was going on before and after my surgery.Yes there was pain afterwards but that was mostly because I was vomiting from the morphine in the pump. Once I was off the pump the vomiting stopped and I felt much better. I must say that the pain was the worst only on that first day and then it wasn't really that bad. I used the washroom the very first night and was up and around the next day. I never had any bleeding so I was glad for that. I was in the hospital 5days and 4 nights because I have children at home, other wise it could have been sooner I'm sure. I am very happy that my doctor and I chose this route.
I hope if there is someone reading this and they are afraid of the pain or any of the stuff that sometimes follow a surgery this may make you feel a little better. Just keep in mind that everyone is different and it might be best to get a few different opinions from peaple, or, like myself I didn't talk to anyone, because I didn't want someone to scare me out of it. I am glad I didn't talk to others because, of course, as soon as peaple new, I heard all kinds of negative stuff and I don't feel that way at all.
