Had TVH on Friday, Dec 10. Had to be there at 4:30 am for 6:00 a.m. surgery time. No bowel prep or shaving needed. Everything thing went pretty smooth. Took 3 tries to get IV in but other than that all was well. I had the inflatable thingies on my legs for circulation and I thought they felt good. I have bad veins in my legs anyhow and so I thought it was soothing. Last thing I remember is kissing my hubby and starting to go down the hall and don't remember anything else until I woke up in recovery. I had general anesthesia. I had absolutely no pain when I woke up. Got to my room and sent hubby home about 1 to pick up my son at school an hour away. Told him not to come back as I was going to sleep and that is what I did until the next day. I would wake up when the nurse or doc came in but then right back to sleep for me. I had no pain but kept pushing the morphine pump button ever so often so I wouldn't have any. Threw up once when the nurse tried to get me out of bed to walk but they put phenergan in my IV and that took care of that. I was so hungry that night and they brought me a clear liquid tray. Didn't eat much of that but snuck me a small Milky Way and that seems to curb my appetite the rest of the night. They came in at 4 a.m. the next morning and took out catheter and about 6 they took out IV but left the line just in case I needed it later. They finally took it out about 9 that morning. Still NO pain. I was up and walking around by the time my hubby and kids got there at 10 to take me home. I give God the credit for everything as I had a lot of people praying for me. This is day 4 and I drove yesterday for the first time with no trouble. I have been home since Saturday and have not had the first pain pill. I feel very good. I am taking it easy and letting everyone pamper me (my hubby and 2 boys). I am taking short walks to mailbox and such, drinking lots of water and resting. I do get worn out quite easily. I hope everyone has an uneventful surgery like mine was.
