TAH BSO
I'm listing my surgery as TAH BSO but only because there wasn't an abbreviation for my surgery. At the age of 23 I had a TVH. After this surgery I developed cysts on my ovaries like clockwork and had major bladder and urethra tube problems. This continued for 13 years. I finally found an OBY/GYN that really checked me out and LISTENED. He determined that my ovaries were going to continue to produce cysts and therefore the vicious cycle of pain would continue. On Feb. 25 went to hospital to undergo surgery. Got there at 8, surgery was to be at 9, emergency occurred and surgery finally was at 11. Came through surgery fine, removed ovaries (which were covered in cysts), tubes, and tons of adhesions. Some of the adhesions were so firmly wrapped around my bowels, Dr. thought he would have to remove some of my bowels- he was great removed only adhesions. He also had to remove some suspicious places from bladder. (Turned out to be calcified stitches from previous surgery) Came home on 3rd day feeling great. 4th day gas hit with a vengeance! I thought I was having a heart attack! It moved over my right shoulder, down my back and into my lower abdomen. My stomach become even more swollen and gas actually made my stomach move (looked like a roller coaster in there) Incision started oozing after staples were removed (8-inch incision with 20 staples) Continued to ooze for about four days. Began Estradiol 1mg. patch 3rd day after surgery. Don't know yet how well this is going to work. It is day 19 and I am going stir
crazy, but finding that I hurt more now than first week. Guess it is the stitches dissolving and healing going on. Looking forward to going back to work part-time. I teach 3rd. graders and miss them a lot! My worry now is getting rid of this HUGE tummy by my sons wedding in May. Best of luck to all that have
been through this and are getting ready to go through it.
