Hi Everyone! Had my TVH A&P Repairs 2/25/05. Arrived at the Hospital 7:45 a.m. and was shown to my chamber. I changed into the majastic hospital garments, talked with Doctor and other Royal Attendents, and made a last minute decree "I will keep my Ovaries" and the Doctor agreed. My DH was by my side this whole time, my IV decided to work only if I held my left arm up and position my left hand slighty downward. Not only did I look like a fool, but I suddenly broke out in an itching rash to the surgical tape. So, off with the surgical tape, tampering with the IV with little sucess, and gobs of paper tape to hold the IV in place. Someone put some medicine into my IV, and as I was holding a perfectly normal conversation, I was hit with the effect of this drug and let out a loud "WOW" And from that point on I have to rely on the interpretation of others because I don't remember a blessed thing. My DH said they were rolling me in to the OR and he made a final joke about me being half naked, drunk and in bed and here they are rolling me away. DH said I laughed and the Staff laughed. I don't remember the OR, breathing tube, anything. I remember someone yelling Diane you're in Recovery now. I remember thinking "thanks for the update and get out of my face." I hope I didn't say that out loud. The next thing I knew I was in my hospital room and my DH and DS were there. I never had a sore throat from the breathing tube, I saw where they put the patches to moniter heart and etc. on my chest. I was hooked up to a PC and IV with Morphine and a patch for nasua. The biggest pain for me was the cathater. I constantly felt like I had to urinate and couldn't go. I kept vomiting but that didn't bother me too much. When the Cath came out the next morning, I still had a hard time urinating. The Doctor came in and let me know what he found inside took a considerable amount of time and detail to put together. My ligaments are not good because of a connective tissue disorder I have so it was quite the challange for him and his assistant. He said I would have to stay another night; it took forever to pass gas but I finally did! Got home, had to go the ER the next day, still couldn't empty bladder, Cathater again, came home, doctors office calling everyday to check up on me, DH and DS home. I hate being so confined and so "not-busy". But glad to be home none-the-less. Having weird temps off and on, I'm blaming it on the Thermometer. Will see Doctor this Monday. I feel like I am gaining weight just sitting, standing, and walking around. Overall, I have no complaints about my surgery, recovery or my stay at the Castle. Will be one week this Friday. Waiting was definately the hardest part. Take care, Diane
