Well, I'm 4 days out and I guess I made it. Morphine was my best friend for the first 24 hours. My surgery time was moved up to 7:30AM instead of 12:30PM that day, so that helped w/ the nerves. Scared my hubby and mother due to having twice the normal bleeding - ewww for the drain thingy they had coming out of me - LOL, I just tucked it into the top of my TED hose! I bled like that during my c-section in 1990, not to mention Dr. said he "found a mess" when he got in there. It took him 30-45 mins. to take care of the "mess" he found just to be able to get to my uterus, tubes, ovaries, etc. He said I had a lot of scar tissue, adhesions and endometriosis. And get this, my appendix had gotten adhered to my rt. ovary mass, so he took that out too! The mass on the rt. ovary was endometrium, old blood and scar tissue he said, not a tumor, but all was sent off to pathology anyway. I guess I'm doing pretty good. Moving around, doing all the little things I'm supposed to be doing, lots of fluids, etc. Dr. has said no driving for 2 weeks now due to having to do more inside than the usual, and to look at 4 wks. instead of 2 wks. to recoup for the same reason. My Dr. believes very much in "no pain", so needless to say, I've had none, God bless him. The only time I hurt was when I was waking up in recovery... I remember the first thing out of my mouth was "I'm hurting" and the nurse immediately hit me in my thigh w/ morphine while she busied herself setting up the morphine pump. But by the next morning, I wanted to morphine gone.... talk about making you LOOPY! Yes, I have the swelly belly right now. I have pain patches on my FIVE poke holes he had to make, instead of the 2 it was supposed to be, so those are numb. I'm tender inside my tummy, but nothing unbearable. I came home 36 hours after surgery and only took 1 Darvacet before bed that night, and haven't taken one since. Hate the way pain meds make ya feel. All of my "plumbing" is working fine; no big problems with gas - thank goodness. I go back to Dr's on Wednesday to get my stitches out. Started my hormone's today (had a 3 day patch for it until I took it off early this AM). Also had a 3 day pain patch (think it was Fentenyl ?) that they put on me the next day and they said not to take either patch off until Sunday (pain patch came off while showering around 10PM last night, so no biggy). All in all, I'd have to say that if there is such a thing as a positive experience, then that's what I've had so far (knocking on wood), even including the complications we ran into. My Dr., the Pre-op, OR, Recovery, anesthesia and floor nurses and staff were GREAT, very friendly, had great senses of humor and were just wonderful to me and my family (Mom stayed over night with me). But for now, I best go, as I can feel it from sitting here in this office chair just to type this.
