MY SURGERY WAS APRIL 22ND. I WAS UP THAT NIGHT TO THE BATHROOM SEVERAL TIMES; AND UP AND WALKING 5 LAPS SIX TIMES A DAY EACH MORNING THEREAFTER. I COULD HAVE GIVEN IN TO THE BENT-OVER WALK BUT FOUND IT HURT NO MORE OR NO LESS TO WALK STRAIGHT UP. BY THE EVENING AFTER MY SURGERY, I ONLY NEEDED TYNELOL. I FOUND THAT AFTER THE WALKING (WHICH HELPED TO AWAKEN MY BLADDER AND BOWELS FROM THE ANESTHESIA) I WAS ABLE TO PASS MY URINE WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM COUGHING (WHICH I USED WITH MY DEEP BREATHING EXERCISES). THIS SAME COUGHING, I USED ON THE 2ND DAY OF MY SURGERY TO HELP MOVE MY BOWELS. BY DAY THREE I HAD A TOTAL OF 4 BOWEL MOVEMENTS (IN ABSOLUTELY NO PAIN.)

I BELIEVE THE SECRET TO MY SUCCESS WAS TO PREPARE BY TAKING MEGADOSES OF VITAMINS AND MINERALS AND BY DRINKING TONS OF PROTEIN DRINKS AND WATER TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO SURGERY. (I ALSO STAYED OFF OFF VITAMIN E AND ASPIRIN DURING THOSE TWO WEEKS TO ASSIST IN LESS BLOOD LOSS DURING SURGERY. I ADDED VITAMIN E BACK ALONG WITH MY PROTIEN, AND MEGADOSES OF VITAMINS AND MINERALS AFTER COMING HOME.

WHILE IN THE HOSPITAL, I NEVER ORDERED POTATES, BREAD, CAKES, PUDDINGS OR ANY OTHER "COMFORT FOOD." I ONLY CONCENTRATED ON MEATS AND EGGS (PROTEIN), FRUITS, AND GREEN LEAFY VEGIES MORNING, NOON, AND NIGHT AND SNACKED ON PRUNES, PRUNE JUICE, WATER, WATER, WATER, AND GRAPE AND ORANGE JUICE.

ON DAY THREE, I LEFT THE HOSPITAL AND WALKED AND RESTED.

TWO DAYS LATER I WENT TO THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE TO HAVE MY STAPLES REMOVED. (NORMALLY, HE WOULD HAVE REMOVED THEM BEFORE I LEFT THE HOSPITAL, BUT BECAUSE OF MY ALLERGY TO SURGICAL TAPE, I COULDN'T USE THE STERI-STRIPS SO HE KEPT THE STAPLES IN FOR TWO EXTRA DAYS. AFTERWARD MY HUSBAND AND I ENJOYED BREAKFAST AT DENNEY'S AND I FELT AND WALKED NORMALLY. TWO DAYS AFTER THAT I WENT TO LUNCH WITH MY GIRLFRIEND AT RUBY TUESDAY'S AND GIGGLED AND LAUGHED ALL AFTERNOON.

I MUST ADMIT THAT I STILL TIRE VERY EASILY AND SLEEP LONG (SOMETIMES 12 HOURS AT A STRETCH) BUT I'M WELL AND PEOPLE CANNOT BELIEVE THAT I HAD SUCH RADICAL SURGERY SO RECENTLY. (I, MYSELF, CAN HARDLY BELIEVE IT, COMPARED TO FORMER SURGERIES AND RECOVERY TIMES THAT I HAVE ENDURED IN THE PAST. )

I TRULY BELIEVE THAT MY SUCCESS, WAS IN THE PRE-OP AND POST-OP INFORMATION AND PREPARATION; AND IN MY WONDERFUL SURGEON, ALONG WITH THE ABSOLUTELY EXTRAORDINARY (NO-WAITING) CARE THAT I RECEIVED FROM THE NURSES AND THEIR AIDES AT CAPE CANAVERAL HOSPITAL.

MY MANTRA WAS: "WATER, WATER, WATER, MEGAVITES, PROTIENS, FRUITS, GREEN LEAFY VEGIES, WALK, WALK, WALK, AND OH YEA--- WALK!

BY THE WAY, I WOULD SUGGEST THAT WHEN YOU WALK, YOU WALK "LIKE A WOMAN ON A MISSION ! ! ! !)

ALWAYS GIVING THANKS TO GOD IN CHRIST WITH JOY I AM,
SHERRY REGAN
