Ask A Doctor
, my name is Carol. I live in Texas. My dh and I were married in 1980. We have a daughter and a son, they are 16 months apart. We have 2 wonderful grandsons, whom we adore. I am VP of Operations of a financial instituion. I enjoy bowling, reading, most crafts and being outdoors.
About 5 years ago I went in for my annual checkup and thought everything was fine, then I got a call from the drs office that my pap smear abnormal, I went in the dr did biopsy's and then went back so he could freeze the cells. I was going for a papsmear every six months for 2 years always the same thing. Finally, the dr did the new thin prep pap smears and it came back negative for HPV, so he felt better and put me back on a regular schedule. Next thing my dr leaves and I have to find a new gyn.
I found me a new gyn, who is great and easy to talk to. I went in March 2005 for my annual check up. The dr done his exam and said that my uterus was enlarged and he wanted to do a transvaginal sonagram. I went for the sonagram and I had a 6cm. fibroid growing on the back wall. The dr gave me all of my options, my periods were getting heavier and I was anemic, my husband and I decided on the hysterectomy. I came home got on the internet put in hysterectomy and Hystersisters was the first site to come up,that was the beginning of my addiction, I could not believe the information that was here, when the big day arrived I was prepared. I had a TAH on April 11,2005, with a uneventful recovery.
Seven months later I woke up in pain, I had a septated hemorraghic cyst on my right ovary. I had a BSO on November 14, 2005. I have been working to get the hormones balanced ever since. Everyday gets better and better.
I am so thankful for Hystersisters, this site has been so helpful. It is comforting to know that you are not alone. You can be open and upfront, ask all the questions that you want and not be judged. I feel that it is a honor to be apart of this team. I thank God that he gave Kathy the insight to start this website, she has touched a lot lives.
