I am now 1 week post-op (TAH with BSO)and feeling great. My Dr. chose to do my surgery at a surgery center here in town. You have to be healthy-no serious medical conditions to get in. Only 18 patient capacity with 1 R.N. per 3 patients. All private rooms with movies, stocked mini fridges, carpet and nice furniture. Looked more like a hotel. Our insurance covered everything: I was worried at first, but they like the surgery centers, not so much overhead and red tape to deal with. I was truly treated like a princess. The only post-op problem I experienced was the gas. After several other surgeries I was pretty surprised; I had not had that problem before. I was up walking with my IV and FC tagging along the first night. I walked and walked and still was miserable. The nurses helped me work it out. I went home on day 3 to find my DH had set up our bedroom as a sick room. He had come on the Hyster site and read everything! I have folding tables to hold my flowers, juices in an ice chest, water, meds, cups, etc. I thought it was so sweet. I think he thought I wasn't ever getting up, but by golly he had the room prepared!
I learned a lot by trolling on this website and just wanted all you sisters to know that I appreciated all of the advice and hope that you other sisters/trollers have as good of a castle experience as I did.
