Hi! My name is Cortney (aka cmharmon). Welcome to Hystersisters!

A little about me - I was born and raised in a small Indiana town. I am married to a wonderful man, and have a beautiful little boy. (Although he is currently growing like a weed and won't be little for too much longer!) We have a house full of critters, too....a dog the size of a horse, a rabbit, 2 cockatiels, 2 lovebirds, and multiple tanks full of fish. A multitude of stray cats work their way in and out of our home too!

My journey has been a long and at times trying one. My cycles started when I was very young (10) and I was in unbelievable pain every month. Not to mention an exteme amount of bleeding. This went untreated until I was trying to convieve. I didn't get pregnant right away, and knew that something was really wrong. I finally was able to have my son after trying for 18 months. After this, it was a uphill battle with my body. Within a few months I had to have my gallbladder removed. And then the cysts on my ovaries started to get really bad, I was diagnosed as having PCOS. I began having surgeries on my ovaries at age 24. Each time they had to take a little bit more damaged ovarian tissue. On my third surgery my Right ovary was completely removed, and most of my left. And my left ovary never functioned again. I was diagnosed with Premature Ovarian Failure at age 25. I was immediately in full blown menopause. Boy was that fun with a 2 yrd old at home! This was followed by a few months of "nothing" and then all of a sudden in May I started bleeding profusely. This led to an emergency admit to the local hospital - and an emergency hyst/LSO. I spent 7 days in the castle! aaggh! lol This has been followed by 3 more surgeries exclusively for lysis of adhesions. And until the very last one, have been traveling this road all by myself. I have never met anyone that has been through what I have been through. I started Pain Mgmt in January and was started on a certain medication that I knew nothing about. I did a Yahoo search for people using this med in association with Chronic Pelvic Pain (another of my lovely diagnosis!!!). That is how I stumbled upon this incredible site. I came here and started to read some of the posts, and immediately signed up. My only wish is that I could have found it 4 years ago! The women on this site are so loving and kind! There is always someone that will have been through what you are going through. And they are eager to share their experiences and their insight. It's all about being there for each other, no matter what. It is truly a sisterhood. I hope you find the same comfort here that I did! If you ever want to chat - you can find me on "the Road", or feel free to PM or email me anytime!

All the best!
Cortney
