My personal experience post op has been wonderful. I had my surgery a year ago. It has literally been the best year of my life. I suffered from severe PMS monthly, now they are calling it PMDD. I never got any breaks from the emotions,the nausea,the cramps,the isolation of wanting to be left alone, (my poor husband). I took out anger on my family,job etc. I could stare at the t.v. and bawl my eyes out for hours. I wasn't your A- typical with pre cancerous problems,cysts etc. But I suffered mentally monthly for almost 10 years. I only got a week and a half break in between periods.

After 7 years of B-6,anti depressants,no caffeine,no salt,no chocolate,virtually being a guinea pig for the Dr. I finally said "Enough". The Dr. consulted a few fertility specialists. They put me on a drug called Danazol for a few months. It isn't a long term drug,but it was to take away my period to see how my body would react to a hysterectomy. The result of this drug was wonderful for the few months I was on it. No emotions,no nausea,no bloating,no heavy bleeding. I never lost the period during those few months,but after seeing the emotional changes, the Dr's concluded a hysterectomy was the way to go.

I am 34 years old. This has literally been one of the best years of my life. I can laugh again. I can spend time with my family literally without feeling blah all the time. My work life,my friendships have improved dramatically.
