Ask A Doctor

I'm a 24 year old with a family history of various female health problems. I myself have had numerous colpos, a leep, and endometriosis was discovered Dec 5th 2005 when I had my tubal ligation. At least then I knew why I couldn't come off my BC pills without pain. After trying treatment with hormones and my refusal to use Lupron, due to horror stories, my LAVH was scheduled for July 12th. This website helped so much in my preparation for surgery. It calmed some fears and let me know what to expect.

I was slightly upset when my surgery was pushed back from 9:45am to 12Noon. I planned to sleep in but nerves got me up early anyway. The wait wasn't to bad and the surgery center I used is really great. The people are all really nice and they even give you heated gowns to keep you warm.. how neat. I came out of surgery fine... I was sick from the anesthesia for a while but as soon as they gave me a shot I felt fine. They had me set-up with a morphine button, which I pushed everytime I woke up, I wasn't taking any chances. The nurses were wonderful and other than the catheter..eeewww... my stay was pretty good. I left the hospital the next afternoon.

I've been home now for about 5 days and the pain hasn't been that bad. I started out taking my Percocet every 4 hours but now I'm down to maybe twice a day.. I'm a wuss, I wish I could say I only needed Advil but the weird twingy, hard to explain pain won't go away with just the Advil. All in all, recovery has not been bad and my DH has been absolutely wonderful. I go back to work next week for half days. I hope everyone else has a good experience too.

Honi
