I have been reading this board to pre-pare me for my FIRST surgery,(except for having 5 babies). It really helped me to get a lot of answers to my ?????'s and ease my limited knowledge of this procedure. I am 53, not yet in menopause---till now-and was plauged w/ heavy bleeding. fibroids, PAIN all the time. many tests, drugs and etc. were tried by my DR., & finally I had had enough. I have read a lot of stories here and thought my "GOOD" experience should help some of you still waiting. My " day-surgery" was on 5/16/2000 & I came home the next day. I did get a little sick abt 12 hrs after the surgery, but a super nurse took care of that w/ an injection inti my I.V.-- and I never threw-up. I was able to walk out of the hosp. to my ride home. Since here, I have been sore at the incision sites ( there were three) and a little black and blue, but not bad. I took till the 2nd day till I could have a BM, but never had any problem to pee. also, was glad they used a catheter in the hosp, as I was too " dopey" to get out of bed. They used "general anestheia", and I usually have a hard time comming out of the "clouds". so all has gone well.
