My periods have always been awful. About 5 years ago I finally got something done, I had a Uterine Balloon Ablation,this was an alternative to a hysterectomy my doctor said. I tried the birth control pills first and they made my periods worse. I was so pleased with my alternative until last year my periods got worse and were lasting longer and longer. I just thought it was stress so I didnt do anything. Then the next year I started having periods every two weeks and spotting in between. I got tired of this and went to the doctor and said I want my hysterectomy now. He said its your choice you want to try the pills again or the balloon ablation I said NO. So Oct 10th I did it Im 5 weeks post op right now and Ive done great. I hurt sure at the end of the day and my tummy swells but I got a swelly belly for that. My first round of hormones didnt work and now Im on the patch and doing great so far. I get tired and Im due to go back to work the week after Thanksgiving and Im scared to death. I would recommend this to anyone. I always heard horrible stories about a hysterectomy, I think it has alot to do with your attitude and how you are as a person. Good Luck to anyone who is thinking about it I say go for it.
