I am Julia from Wisconsin. I grew up in rural Iowa. I'm a nursing student and an Anatomy/Physiology tutor. I enjoy knitting, baking, spending time with my husband and my "furbaby" (dog).
I had my hyst (TAH - kept ovaries that later failed) on 6-2-2006. I had a significant history of excessive and prolonged bleeding for 20 years that became dangerously heavy a number of months before my hyst. I had the hyst to save my life and discovered a bleeding disorder shortly before surgery that wasn't pinpointed accurately until 12-2006. I will always live with the bleeding disorder, but my blood and body are stable for the first time in 20 years. There is much hope ahead for a healthy life for me!
This web-site was a saving grace for me. I was mostly bed-ridden for months from an extremely, extremely slow recovery due to the bleeding disorder. The Sisters always welcomed me when I was having a particularly painful, difficult and slow recovery. Women banding together for the sole purpose of helping each other to the best of their abilities is one of the most powerful things we can do as women. HysterSisters has provided an outlet for us to do that and I'm so excited to share in this process as a Hostess. I'll do my very best to do what I can to use my own experiences to help bring an additional helpful spirit to HysterSisters.
There are additional areas in which I have experience. If I can be of help with these issues, please let me know: very slow recovery, bleeding disorders, difficulty dealing with being infertile, heart-related issues, and learning to utilize a physician's resources even if the physician isn't necessarily forthcoming.
