Hello Ladies: My decision to have the TAH took three years after suffering through excessive bleeding, multiple lapros for abnormal cysts, extreme abdominal pain, and several opinions. I originally thought that since I was perimenopausal that my issues would become tolerable or even just disappear. My gyny was very patient and tried many avenues (birth control pills, biopsies, CT/CAT scans) as she continued to access the root cause of my pain since it was both vaginal and abdominal. Once she recommended TAH I sought out two additional opinions and was surprised that they both agreed stating they felt it was the most appropriate action. I made the decision to have eveything removed and it was the right decision as they found Ademonysis in the Uterus as well as my intestines had begun wrapping around my ovaries which would have been very serious sometime on the future and could not be detected on the ultrasound.
My wonderful husband did more research then me on the subject and actually found hystersisters for me. It has really been a lifeline build on real life experiences, health resources, and other women who provide unconditional support. I have had my challenges during my recovery (edema, bacterial infection, insomina, etc) however the Checkpoints are invaluable and provide a baseline of your progress (for me generally right on target). My husband always said ...... look at hystersisters forum and see if anyone else had this happen. At 3 am it was comforting to have a wealth of information at your fingertips.
Each week you turn a corner and I actually go back to work this Friday. I feel great and have also made some substantial life/health style changes as a commitment to better living. My recommendation would be to utilize the forums, checkpoint progress, and take the time to rest and heal....... it really makes a big difference.
Thanks to Hystersisters!!!!!!!!
