Hi ... I'm Sue and I live in the UK and Spain. I married a wonderful man in 1990 and have two grown-up stepsons. For one reason or another, I wasn't able to have children of my own and so lavish all my love and attention on my furbabies!

When I look back now, I can't believe all the years I put up with gynae problems. I thought all ladies had major trouble every month and were confined to the house for days on end. It also got to the point where I couldn't be away from a bathroom for more than an hour due to urinary incontinence.

It wasn't until an enormous lump started protruding from the left side of my abdomen, that I finally sought medical advice and was referred to a Specialist. After various tests, he confirmed a single, massive fibroid growing off my cervix. Although a difficult decision, my quality of life was zero at that point and, following 3 months of Prostap (Lupron) which successfully shrank the fibroid, I had my hysterectomy (SAH) in 2005. I insisted on keeping my ovaries if they looked healthy (which they did) and ended up keeping my cervix due to complications during surgery.

My only regret is that I didn't find HysterSisters before my surgery! I had no-one to talk to and felt very isolated. I eventually found HS at about a month post-op and spent many weeks exploring the site and absorbing as much as I could. Now I can't keep away and am still amazed at the absolute wealth of information, experience and advice available. And, of course, the ladies here are second-to-none!!

All my best wishes to you, wherever you are in your hyster-journey.
