Hi ladies. I decided to have my hyster for a few reasons. First is because I was sick of the periods that got worse and worse each month. The second is because my fibroid was getting bigger and the pain each month was worse. But what finally made me decided to do the surgery (remove uterus but leave the ovaries and cervix) was because my insurance was changing on Jan 1st to a 10% co-pay instead of a regular HMO. I hate to admit it but the insurance made my final decision for me. I could have waited a few years and tried other treatments but this was quick, easy, and a lot cheaper than if I waited. So I did it on 12-27-07. I came home last night (the 28th) and I'm pretty happy about it. Once I get rid of all of the gas, it will be good.

The surgery itself was no big deal. I went into pre-op with no worries. When they took me into the waiting area, I was good. But then I had to pee and that made me feel weird because I was already hooked up to everything so I didn't want to ask. Still feeling good though. Then they brought in the lady that just came out of surgery. She was in bad shape. She was dizzy, throwing up, and complaining about the horrible pain. She had a lot more done than I did and she weighed almost 300lbs. She really freaked me out. For the ten minutes that I layed there, I almost decided to get up and leave. It was the one and only time that I was scared. But I guess they saw my change and they took me in pretty quickly.

I'm happy to say that when I woke up, I had no pain, dizziness or vomit issues. I slept most of the time and when I was awake, I wasn't too uncomfortable. I could even sleep on my side. The main thing has been the gas. Who knew that gas was painful? Normally you just fart and it is all gone.

The one suprise has been the feeling in my collar bone. It hurts. The nurses stated that it is from the air they shoot up in you during the surgery. The best thing to do is walk alot. Somehow that makes it better. I'm working on it but so far, I can't sleep on my left side because it hurts my right collar bone.

I haven't had my first poop yet but no worries. I'm passing gas so it shouldn't be too much longer.

I'm very happy at the results and come next month when I should have a period and do not, it will be incredible!
