I had LAVH and BSO on Thursday, Jan 17th, 2008 and you could knock me over with a feather, as I feel better now, even without pain medication, than I did before the surgery! I did not realize how miserable I was. I had a failed endometrial ablation done 1 1/2 years ago for irregular, awful bleeding. I knew I had a 70% chance of not having periods again, but lo and behold, I started spotting and quickly getting worse by 6 months after the procedure. My mother had uterine cancer and an almost deadly hyster at the age of 34. I have been almost homebound from the gushing, wrenching, almost non-stop periods. Even Depends weren't enough to keep the flow contained. Therefore, my decision was pretty much made. My doctor was very concerned.

As far as the surgery, the worst problem I had was with nausea, and I had a little communication problem getting phenergan from the nurses, as my doctor likes reglan. But, all in all, it was much better than I feared. I still haven't had the crying jags yet... I started on low dose premarin .45, I think, on Friday... I could not have made it without the Hystersisters, I had no one else in the world to talk to about this. I can't thank you all enough.....
