Well I am home from my hyster. I went in Tuesday morning, had to be there at 6 and my surgery was at 7:30. I went through Day Surgery for my hyster and was transferred to a room afterwards. Everyone was so nice to me. First the pre-op nurse came in and we talked for a bit and she started my IV. The first time it blew but the second time it took. She used Lidocain first so it didn't hurt at all. The anesetialogist sp?) came in to see if I had any questions and to let me knwo what to expect. Then they drew some blood and gave me some happy juice. All this time my family was allowed to be with me 2 at a time. The last thing I remember was it was 7:25 and my mom and dd kissed me bye. The next thing I remember was it was 11:45 and I was trying to wake up in recovery.

I won't lie. When I woke up I was in a tremedous amount of pain,,,about a 7. The nurse gave me Torydol (sp?) until I stopped hurting. About 5 minutes. Then they took me to my room. My family came back immediately. About 1 they gave me some morphine in my IV and I drifted in and out of sleep for a bit was awake more. Oh and right after they took me to my room they brought me a clear lunch. I ate some jello and drank some juice but really wasn't hungry. I mainly needed to eat a bite so I could have percocet instead of morphine. For supper I ate steak and potatoes....mmm. it was really good.

She came back at 4:30 and gave me two percocet and I took those every 4 hours til this morning at 8 when I only took one for the ride home.

My catheter came out last night at 6 but I had a hard time peeing. She was going to put it back in at 12 if I hadn't gone but at the last minute I was able to go so she didn't have too. I still have had a BM yet but I am taking a stool softener and drinking lots of juice.

They put the compression boots on me and they felt like a mini massage, too bad they didn't go over my feet too.....lol.

The dr came in this morning and said that I could go home and I left at around 9. I took one percocet at 8:30 for the ride home but it wasn't bad at all. We stopped at a little convience store right out from my house and I went in and got me a couple of oatmeal pies and came on to the house.

The nurses desk was right outside my door so after my first walk last night around 8 I would just get up and walk out there to get what I needed if it was drink or something. They even made coffee a couple of times for me. I think that and the three laps around the hallways were really helpful for me.

I have some gas pains but they are not untolerable. I have used a few Gas-X strips but other than this my pain is very manageable. I'm a little stiff.

Right after my surgery my back did hurt from being in stirrups and tilted head down for three hours but I put my little travel pilow behind my back in the bed and that helped alot.

Overall I feel really good considering that I just had major surgery.

I took my pain med though and I am getting sleepy so I will go.
