You knew a lot would change when you went through menopause – whether it happened naturally or through surgery. But one thing you weren’t completely prepared for may have been finding yourself less interested in sex. You may have had a healthy sex life but now perhaps it seems no matter what you do, you can’t get in the mood. And these kind of problems aren’t limited to the bedroom, because your lack of sex drive places additional stress on other aspects of your life, such as your relationship with your significant other.
What you may not realize is your decrease in sexual desire is a common medical condition that affects many women just like you. After you go through menopause or have your ovaries removed, your body usually decreases its production of testosterone – a hormone that affects many things, including your sex drive. Though usually thought of as a male hormone, testosterone plays a role in many functions in women, including sex drive. Low testosterone may contribute to the symptoms of Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD), which is the decrease or absence of desire for sex that causes personal distress and, possibly, relationship problems.
A medical research study is being conducted for women who have gone through menopause or had their ovaries removed and are experiencing a decrease in sexual desire. The study will include 3,500 patients nationwide.
The primary purpose of this study is to determine the safety and effectiveness of LibiGel®, an investigational medication for Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD). If you are interested, you will be evaluated to further determine your eligibility. If you qualify, you will receive investigational medication, study-related medical exams and lab tests at no charge. You may also receive financial compensation for time and travel.
If you are interested in seeing if you may qualify for the study, call 1-877-BLOOM-81. You will learn more about the study and ask you a few questions to see if you are eligible. If you know of anyone else who might be interested in the study, please feel free to forward this email as you like.
We are looking forward to hearing from you about this study to help find a future treatment for women with low sexual desire.
Thank you
