Hi everyone,
I have been very tired for over 8 years, but would of never thought it could be do to my cycle problems. My cycle has been very heavy with huge blood clots and cramps that make me stop in my tracks for over 10 years. I started talking to my Dr. about my fatigue. That is when all the tests stared. First I found out that I have high blood pressure. Then found out I have sever RLS. Got Meds. for both conditions. Still fatigued, went for sleep apnea test. Eveything ok except I woke up alot because of RLS. Went for blood tests and found out I was anemic. The Dr. asked me about my cycle. That is when it all started 2 months ago, the Hyst. word.

I told my Dr. all about my cycle and the symptoms that come with it. I had to wear a tampon and pad both because of the gushes that I experience. He did a pelvic exam and said he thought it was due to fibroids. My Dr. scheduled a ultra-sound. When I got there with my bladder so full I felt like I was going to pop, they started the test. After they were done running the probe across my stomach they told me I could void and that they were going to do a vaginal one. Which didn't really click in because I had to urinate so bad. When I came back into the room, the attendant told me to insert the probe into my vaginal opening past the cuff. I just looked at her and said, you want me to do what with that, only if it vibrates and comes with batteries. She laughed. A little humiliating but got it done.

Retuned to Dr. office and it was confirmed I have fibroids. I told me about an alternative procedure and I asked if it was a guarantee that my symptoms wouldn't return. He said that it was not 100% and that my symptoms could come back and could be worse. I told him flat out to do a Hyst. I have had enough of my cycle after a long 10 years.

I got to the hospital and was taking straight to the second floor waiting area for surgery. Got registered right away. Put out in the holding area to wait with my mom and DBF until called back. 1/2 hr. later got called back to speak to anesthia tech and got my I.V. started. 10 mins. later was being wheeled to operating room. remember scouting over on operating table and being strapped down then everything is a blank until woke up at recovery room. Had tremendous pain. Could not speak because of pain. That is all I remember until I got to my room and they told me I have my own P.C.A.

My stay at the castle was not restful at all. I had a screamer down the hall and a roommate that snored the first night. The second night I got some sleep after the screamer left and my roommate left. The third night was not restful again because I got a new roommate that proclaimed that she messed herself all night long and the nurses where in and out all night long. Even though I was severly constipated because of all the pain killers and the Dr. didn't want me to go home until I had a BM. I went home to get some rest. It took me 8 days to have a BM. But I finally did. I am feeling pretty good. Better then what i thought I would after having a major operation. I am taking every day slowly and listening to my body.

The hystersister site was so helpful with my journey through all this. I am grateful for everyone that answered all my questions and concerns leading up to my surgery. I hope I can be as helpful as all my sisters on this site. Well my body is telling me that I need to get up from the computer, THANK YOU SISTERS for everything, I greatly appreciate it and I am glad that I found this site and will recommend it to anyone that has to go through this journey so they don't feel alone or scared.
