Well, I'm home! Not a bad experience at all!
I checked into the hospital at 6:30 a.m. They went ahead and put me in a regular room, which was nice. Hubby and I had privacy, and I could watch tv for distraction.
I've learned that when I wake up from anesthesia, I'm either in a very good mood, or I'm crying. Well, this time, I was extremely upset...just crying my eyes out. They ended up re-sedating me, and when I awoke again, I was fine--just a little out of it.
I felt pretty good the rest of the day. I napped on and off and had a few visitors that evening. They gave me two Ambiens at bedtime, so I slept VERY well, lol!
I still felt good the next morning. My boss came to see me and brought magazines & candy--his wife HAD to have picked them out. She seemed to know exactly what magazines I read!
I went home around 11:00 that morning, and started feeling really tired and achy after that, so I slept the rest of the day and night. I got up just long enough to eat the supper my mom cooked and brought over.
She made a pork loin, homemade mashed potatoes, purple hull peas (that my dad picked fresh from their garden that morning!), rolls, and cookies. I have to say, that's the best meal I've ever had, lol! NOBODY cooks better than my mama!
DH had to go to work at 3:30 this morning, and I had trouble going back to sleep after he left. Finally knocked off again around 6:00 a.m. and woke up again at 9:00 or so.
I'm still a little achy, but nothing major. I've noticed though, that it's not cramp-like; it's a steady ache. The doctor sent me home with Celebrex and Lortabs, which seem to control the pain very nicely.
I had a wonderful experience in the hospital as far as nursing and doctor care. Everyone was so kind and caring; especially before surgery when I couldn't stop crying (not sobbing, just the silent slow tears, you know?).
Take heart Girls! There's light at the end of the tunnel--even when they take the cervix and sew the end shut, hehe!
Please excuse any typos or things that don't make sense...I'm typing under the influence.
God bless all of you who have yet to have surgery; He will care for you and comfort you.
