 Hi sisters, I wanted to let you know that I had a wonderful experience with my recent TAH. I was blessed to be at a cutting edge hospital and their pain control of choice was to use a general anesthesia along with a walking epidural. The epidural was left in for two days post op and the pain control was incredible! I had two previous open abdominal surgerys and they used a PCA pump with morphine and I had alot of pain post op. The epidural was like a miracle compared to the PCA, there was almost no pain and I was able to walk and use the bathroom.
Please talk to your Doctor and see if this is available to you, I cannot recommend it highly enough. Beth
