Hi sisters!

I felt that I wanted to share my story...although I hope that nobody else experiences this! It actually may give several of you a laugh!

I had a TAH/MMK (marshall-maschetti- something...bladder fix) on 8/7. The first complication was that I had a fever/scratchy throat when I checked in. They were considering cancelling surgery. Got past that. While my OB/Urologist were performing surgery..they ran into alot of scar tissue....from a previous surgery..which caused me to lose alot of blood. They gave me blood tranfusions later. I continued to run a fever (100-101) until Sunday..they put me on a very potent anti-biotic...just in case.

The pain was unbearable. I never thought that I would be begging for shots! But I could hardly wait until the next one! I would doze off...and wake myself up jumping (you know that falling out of a tree feeling?)...and thought I was going to tear my incision open. (ouch!). Thank goodness for my teddy bear friends sent...it helped to hug him when it hurt!

They sent me home Friday...with the cath still in. I didn't like that...but I should have counted my blessings! I was supposed to see my urologist Monday am to get the staples and cath out. We were there Monday morning...no Dr! The rude receptionist told my husband..he's not here...and we have no record of her coming in. Here I sit...after struggling down the stairs..ugh! So I called my gyn...they got me in...took the staples out...and the cath. I felt like a million bucks! We stopped to get the prescription filled (stronger pain meds), and I went to wait in the car. Somehow...the alarm on the car went off..which tripped something so that we couldn't get the car started! I sat in the car...with major bladder spasms...and my husband out in the pouring rain...trying to disconnect the horn! (I know...this is better than a soap opera...don't turn the channel yet!). He got the horn disconnected..and we eventually got the car started.

Ok..home again. The urologist calls to apologize...we're moving on. Now...I can't pee. He says if I don't by the afternoon...I need to come in. Well...by the afternoon...I'm in pain. (I drank LOTS of water as they requested...BIG mistake!). We get in the car..head to the docs..(who promises he'll be there this time...). The air conditioning isn't working in the car. Apparently my husband blew a fuse when he disconnected the horn! So...along with my bladder spasms...I'm now sweating like a pig! That was the longest 25 minute ride in history!

When I got to the docs...I decided not to talk to the rude receptionist...I went straight back to find a bathroom! The Dr saw me...and of course...gave me VIP treatment. (guilt, i guess). They emptied my bladder...and proceeded to show me how to cath myself. If any of you have done this...I'd like to talk to you...to compare stories! Here they tell us...no bending...then tell me to put my leg up...bend over...look in a mirror...and find my urethera! Well...I've gotten better at it now...but it sure isn't pleasant.

The latest dilemma...is that my incision started bleeding. I went to the docs yesterday...who told me that there was some kind of 'clot'...and it needed to be cleaned out. So...he did that...and put some gauze in it...which I have an app't to get out this afternoon. It's bleeding/hurting pretty bad.

Well...that's my story. I have to laugh about some of it....it's just unbelievable. I am so glad that I found hystersisters...it helps to chat with others who are going through this, too. I wish all of you well...send me an Email or AIM me soon!

To be continued...
