Hi sisters,
Well here is how my trip to the castle went.
O.K. it's 5/25 arrive at the castle (I was as nervous as a turkey sitting on a pile of stuffing listening to christmas carols) at 5.30am surg is at 8am dh is with me the nice nurse gave me a lovely? gown to wear then gave me an enema and a shave.
They arrived for me at 6.50am to take me to the O.R. found out when we got there that my doc was delivering a baby so they wheeled me back to the ward (could not stop laughing).
Anyway dh left at 7.15a. I had told him to go as there was no point in him hanging around the hosp watching me sleep.
So finaly they arrived at 8.30am to take me to the O.R. SUCCESS this time : got my I.V. they had problems getting it in and was a little sore but they got it in the end, started pumping in the funny juice I just about remember going into the O.R. then what seemed like 2mins later I was awake, a little sore and as sick as a dog (served me right, told them I never got sick from the anisthetic) dont remember much after that till I woke up in the ward, feeling very sleepy but in no pain at all, dh came in at 3.30pm was supprised I was so awake but kept falling asleep on him.
Woke up later on (not sure what time) and was very thirsty they gave me some ice to chomp on and that was nice, still no pain.
So now it's the next morning, at 6am I decided it was time to take a walk, much to the nurses dismay but I was determened not to stiffen up, so I took a few steps glad I did got rid of a lot of gas still was not allowed to eat anything, later that day they gave me some jello and orange juice, but all that citrus acid made me sick (ouch) so I demaned some toast and milk (with menaces) which made me feel better.
Went for 4 walks with my I.V. (your never alone with an I.V.)
Felt much better after my walks, yes it was sore but much better than staying in bed getting too stiff, drank loads of water too, nurse took out the catheter, that was great although it did not bother me at all but it was good to go to the bathroom.
The pain med pump was great, it really kept the pain at bay, saw doc he seemed pleased with me said I could go home Sunday.
Saturday arrived and they took out my I.V. freedom at last did some more walking, it really helps with gas and stiffness so I was'nt getting very sore.
Well that's about it ladies hope I did not bore you too much, I am 5 days post op now and feeling good, I rest, rest some more and rest again and when I'm done I rest some more.
Will keep posting.
Sending you loving thoughts and the luck of the Irish.
Love ya's,
AnneW.
