Hi All,
I Had A Total Hysterectomy On August 26, 2008. This Following A Double Mastectomy In February 12, 2008. With The Reconstruction Surgery, I Had Three Surgeries, The Last They Had To Take A Skin Graft, So After 4 Children And A Hernia, I Opted For An Abdominalplasty With The Last Surgery. At The Advice Of My Plastic Surgeon, I Followed Up With My Ob To Make Sure I Wasn't Facing A Hysterectomy For Any Reason Down The Road. My Ob Agreed It Was A Wise Decision And Since I Was Having A Period Every Other Week, Which Lasted For A Week She Did An Ultrasound. I Was Called In For A Preop Appointment And Told I Might Have Early Ovarian Cancer. The Ultrasound Showed A Cyst With A Thickened Irregular Border. I Don't Remember The 4 Days From The Preop Appointment Until The Surgery Due To The Stress, Especially After Googling A Cyst With An Irregular Thickened Border. Everything I Read Said "malignant". But Was Happy To Find Out It Was A Ruptured Hemorraghic Cyst With A Blood Clot. (endometriosis) Due To My Mother Having Breast Cancer, And Having Four Tumors Removed From My Breast All Turned Out Benign. (thus The Reason For The Mastectomy) I Was Happy To Get Rid Of All My Female Plumbing.
The Sad Part. One Of My Very Close Friends Totally Abandoned Me Post Op Saying I Had The Surgery For Attention And Pity???? What The Heck? Like My Doctor, Surgeon, Hospital And Insurance Company Agreed To This So I Could Get A Dinner Made For Me??? When I Needed Support, I Had Someone Saying I Had Surgery For Pitty. I Was Off The Couch In Less Than A Week And Feeling Great. I Even Did Photography For A Wedding 10 Days Post Op!
I'm On The Vivelle Dot, Feel Great, Look Great And Have No Worries Anymore About Breast Cancer, Uterine Cancer, Ovarian Cancer Or Cervical Cancer. And Now Have No More Chronic Right Side Pain.
The Surgery Was Nothing, Sex Is The Same As Before, I Had Just A Couple "warm Flashes" The Week After While My Body Adjusted To The Hormone Patch, But Other Than That, Feel Better Than Before.
Don't Stress The Surgery, Don't Stress The Hormones, You Will Be The Same Person As You Were Before, Just Healthier!
Chin Up, And Happy Holidays To All!!!
