Hi! Welcome to my bio page. My name is Jene’ but you will find me online as LookingforaSis.

I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have one child. I consider him my miracle baby. We currently are stationed in Oklahoma. My husband is active duty Air Force. Right now we are on 3-4 yr rotations. Moving isn’t a very big deal for me since my father was USAF and I did a short stint in the USMC. I actually enjoy moving, seeing new places, and of course I can take all of my online friends with me.

I am a wife and mother first and foremost, I love to spend time with my boys. We eat dinner together almost every night and spend our weekends together. I also love to read and am finishing up my degree in Criminology. I also have a passion for “fighting” for people that cannot do it for themselves. I am involved in the State of Oklahoma’s volunteer ombudsman program. Basically, I am an advocate for patients in long term care facilities without pay. I go in, meet with them and they don’t have to be afraid to talk to me if something is wrong or they are being mistreated. I keep them protected while I either 1. Attempt to mediate the issue with the nursing home or 2. Take the problem directly to the State of Oklahoma for further review.

I was first diagnosed with endometriosis in 1999 at the age of 21. I have had 3 laparoscopies and done one round of lupron. Fast forward again to 2007. My husband and I decided we wanted to try to have another baby. We meet with an RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist) and had another laparoscopy and an HSG. I found out that my left tube was blocked and the endo was now on my bladder and my colon. But, determined to continue, my RE cleaned up the endo the best he could and we started fertility treatments. I used a lot of hormones, both oral and injectibles. I had 4 failed IUI’s. My body was a mess. After a year of failed treatments, I felt awful and I was in a lot of pain. My husband and I talked and realized that my health was far more important. We stopped TTC.

The military moved us late in the summer of 2008, shortly after the TTC journey ended. When we got to Oklahoma I was in so much pain, I had to go find a doctor. The first thing the doctor did was a sonogram. He saw a large mass on my left ovary and diagnosed it as an endometrioma. It was here that I was given my options. I knew that a hysterectomy wasn’t a cure for the endo but, it did give me hope! So I consented. I was TERRIFIED. I was 30 years old, living in a new place, and I just found out I was having a hysterectomy.

Scared and with no one to talk to who could really understand what I was going through, I hit the internet. I stumbled across HysterSisters.com and have been here ever since. When I chose my screen name, I did it for a reason. The site is HysterSisters and I so badly needed a sister to get me through this! Hence the name I use, LookingforaSis. HysterSisters has given me so much through my pre-op and post-op. I am absolutely blessed to have been asked to be part of the Hostess team. I only hope that I can give back a portion of the compassion and knowledge that I have been given here.

In Sept 2008 I had my LAVH/BSO. While waiting for my surgery, my other ovary developed an endometrioma that was larger than my uterus! I was also told that I had Stage IV endometriosis. I have been very fortunate to have had a very easy recovery. Please, if there is any way I can help you either with information or a hug, contact me!

Big hugs and remember, YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS!
