Just wanted to share because I had such a good experience. Arrived at the hospital at 7:50. Was taken straight back for bp check and question from preop nurse. Back to anesthesia at 9:15. Some trouble with the IV (it took them 4 tries) but they numbed it first so very little pain. Doctor visited here and reexplained everything. Asked if I was nervous and when I said definitely she had them give me versed in my IV. Almost instant relief. I still heard and understood but didn't care and worry anymore. To OR at 1015. Staff so nice and explained everything until the minute they put me under. Woke up in my room with the nurses moving me from the litter to the bed at 3:15. (Took a little longer in recovery because my blood count was so low they had some trouble waking me up.) No relief from pain with the demerol pump after I had been hooked up for about half an hour. A nurse stayed with me though and rubbed my back until they could get hold of the doctor and switch me to a morphine drip instead. Within minutes no pain. I really mean it. I could feel pressure when I rolled but NO discomfort at all. Foley catheter stayed in for my urine output until 10pm and then out it came. Pain pump only stayed until 4am and then away it went to0. Felt pretty dizzy off and on the whole time I was admitted and for a couple days after getting home but this must have still been the effects of the morphine. They fed me real food the next morning. Still very little pain. Not even as bad as menstrual cramps. Staple do pull a little and seem to dig when getting in and out of bed. Surgery Wednesday and home Friday morning. Really felt good. Went to the mall Saturday. Just walked but nice to be out with other people. Still have little appetite 6 days later but this is my only complaint. Still no pain. Staples are out and doctor says looking good. Going on my daughters fieldtrip to a petting farm on Thursday. Hope this helps calm some nerves for all you LIW's. I was so nervous and this site was so wonderful. Good luck to you all!!!
