Went to hospital @ 6:20 a.m. for 7:30 surgery. During pre-op exam found potassium low so had to take meds but follow-up blood work didn't reach hospital on time so new blood work taken. Levels came in after I was under that level OK. Didn't expect waiting in large room with other OR patients with heated blankets and then walked to OR and climbed up on table. Woke up in room 3 hrs later but hubby not there - they couldn't find him. Only scarey thing at that point was the nurse came in to wash off surgery area of disinfectant paint and the idea was more painful than the process. I had no extreme pain, just a tenderness with pulling where steri-strips were (no stitches or staples outside). Demoral shots for the first couple of days and sleeping pills at night made everything more than bearable. Surgery was May 15th, home on 18th and today I'm up, about, walking outside and full of energy. I know my body and don't overdo it. Hubby went away for almost a week. Left me a semi-invalid, came back in shock at how much I came around. Tenderness in abdomen which I think is internal bruising. TAH for me was a piece of cake - nothing as expected. Now to get back to full activity - can't wait.
