Ask A Doctor

Hello everyone. I want to start off by saying thank you to those of you who answered my questions and gave me words of encouragement. I found this website wirh the recomoendation of a friend. I introduced myself, asked a few questions and got my answers as well as reading lots of great info. this site really helped calm my nerves. I had my hysterectomy on march 20, 2009, just 4 days after turning 28 years old. I had cervical cancer and this was my third and i pray final surgery in removing it. i had a robot assisted surgery where they left 5 incisions on my belly. i was nervous when i heard there would be so many cuts. They are all 1 inch long at most. they are healing great and i should have very minimal scarring. I woke up in pain after the surgery but the nurses were on top of it. They kept the iv diladads coming and it reallly helped with the pain. i had to spend the night to make sure i was ok. my blood pressure stayed around 80/40. It is normally low around 100/60, but they werre not concerned it being that low. After they took my cath out the next morning, i had to get up and walk for the first time. It hurt, but i made it and boy did it feel great to tinkle!! I had a 2 and half hour ride home which was long. i felt every bump! i got sent home with pain killers so it really helped. Each day that has gone by i have gotten up a little more. I am exactly 1 week post op and my main pain now is gas pain. My stomach will cramp really bad for about 1 minute then it quits. It has been kinda hard to have a bowel movement as well. I am kinda bloated. Iy hurts to cough. But everything is manageable. I took one pain pill yesterday, and one today because of the cramps. I am handlingg this alot better than i thought i would, and i honestly am not depressed like i was before the surgery. before hand i kinda felt like i hated the world, now i feel like a nicer person. the dr was able to leave my ovaries so i am not on hrt. overall i am feling pretty good and all the horror stories i read on other sites were just written by bad apples. good luck to all u women and i hope u have good surgery outcome as well
