All Ladies,
I'm 42 years old and on March 10,2009 I had a TAH/BSO. It's been 24 days and I'm feeling human again. The recovery has been better than I had expected, but I am doing exactly what the doc and hystersister site recommends. I still take my pain meds when I need them and I nap whenever my body tells me too. I've been walking up my block and around the house and that's about all I can do right now without being exhausted. This site has been such an incredible gift, you can ask anything and get multiple honest answers. There are two things that have helped me the most during this challenging time: #1- Always remember that you just had very invasive major abdominal surgery and your body is traumatized-listen to it and you will be so glad you did.
#2- Get a large body pillow that you can tuck under your legs and belly for support, it has been a life saver. Oh, and one more thing, you only have one chance to heal correctly, make it happen now so you never have to go through abdominal surgery again. Good luck and good healing
