Well, guess It's my turn to share my story. Almost twelve years ago when I was pregnant with my son, I started bleeding. After testing and sonograms (sp) they told me the baby was OK but between the sack the baby was in and the wall of the uterus I was covered in fibroid tumors. Most of these came out attached to the after birth YUK The day after I gave birth, the Dr. cut my tummy open accross my belly button and took the last few tumors and tied my tubes. He thought it was best for my body to go back to normal before I had a historectomy. From that day on, I tried every option available including living with them. When I was to the point of heavy bleeding every 3-5 days and the tumors were growing thru the wall of the uterus, it was time. The date was set, I was scared and I found this site that saved my sanity
I only had two weeks from the day they set my date to "The Castle Day" I didn't have any pre op other than eat light the day before and nothing by mouth after midnight. Had to be at the castle by 6:00 for 7:45 OR time. I get to the hospital about 5:50, they take me right to my room, give me a cute sexy backless gown take my blood preasure and temp., two pre op shots and then told me to change beds I was on my way to holding !!! SO FAST In holding, I talked a minute with my Dr's (I was looped from the pre op shots ) They gave me a local for the spinal, I remember NOTHING until I woke up for a second in surgery. I wasn't scared and I was out like a lite a second later. The next thing I know, I'm in my room.
It took one hour ... not bad I had a cath and a morphine pump for 24 hours. Came home the second day after and stopped all pain meds except normal tylenol on day 5. My Doctor and Nurses were wonderful and each day I feel better and stronger and happier Why did I put this off so long ?
I couldn't be more pleased, unless the whole healing part of this could be skipped
Wishing ALL LIW the Best,
Terecia 5/25/00
