Hello lovely princesses. I just had my dVh done on Monday the 27th and I am home and moving around today. YAY!

My history is that I have had severe PMS with intense pain, heavy bleeding, and irregular cycles since my teens, endometriosis since the birth of my third child, cervical pre-cancer, and HPV on one occasion. Between the 2 laparoscopies to get rid of the endometriosis, the cervical freeze, the endless rounds of medications trying to control the various symptoms, just the general all around hassle i went through each month my Gynecologist recommended that I have a hysterectomy.
I moved to a new state and went to a new doctor who looked at my records, worked with me over the course of the past year and this past month sent me for a final round of tests including MRIs before finally sending me to another OB/Gynecologist for a third opinion. The MRI's showed a lesion on my right ovary and there was a small possibility that the ovary would have to be removed. But when the doctor looked at the ovary he discovered it was just a cyst, totally benign and left the ovary intact. All of these doctors were in agreement that a hysterectomy was best for me and the lifestyle I live. I needed the shortest possible downtime as I have a child at home full time as well as my partners child on the weekends and we are a very active family. I also have to work to support us so I couldn't afford to miss a lot of work. Since I had my tubes tied after the birth of my last child I had no intentions of becoming pregnant again. My partner has a child and has no wish for any more either.
The Da Vinci hysterectomy was recommended and I'm so glad i went that route. I am not in a lot of pain but I am sore from the intubation and at my incision sites. I got to leave the hospital as soon as they removed the Foley and I was able to pass gas. I was up and walking around almost immediately. Assisted for the first 2 walks and then could get around whenever I wanted to after that. The dry mouth from the anesthesia was annoying but I brushed my teeth a lot and drank lots of water. I also got some really strong cough drops for the sore throat and those seem to be helping immensely. I did overdo just a little by stopping in at my job and hanging out with the folks there for a bit. Mostly I was just tired from the walking around visiting with everyone. I'm a little slow but I get where i need to go eventually lol. Coughing and sneezing were hard yesterday but don't seem to be bothering me so much today. They sent me home with Motrin and Vicoden for pain management but surprisingly I haven't had to take any since I woke up as the pain isn't unbearable. I feel like i have had a really good ab workout. Hot tea and coffee help with the soreness in my throat. As do popsicles (smiles). I love the fact that I am back on my feet and can do a few small things for myself already. The family put the laundry where I can reach it easily and I am hanging and folding a little at a time. I do get tired easily but I get rest when I need it and get up and move when I am awake. Still passing gas like a trooper but hoping for my first BM today. Isn't it crazy the things we look forward to sometimes? lol
I've been sitting here at the computer for a good hour now and am ready to go lay down again but I feel good. Just a bit tired.
I am very happy I got this done and am looking forward to no more painful periods. So far my tonsillectomy a few years back was worse than this lol.
