Hi, I'm Germaine. You will find me on-line as TaurusLady.
I live in Cincinnati, Ohio. What they call a traditional West Sider which means I live on the Western side of the greater Cincinnati area (about 15 minutes away from Indiana). Also I live about 5 minutes from the house I was born in and attend the church that my grandfather helped to build. My great-grandfather helped build the one before that!
I love reading books, travelling, watching sci-fi, boating, waterskiing and horseback riding. We own 2 Tennesse Walkers and a ski boat. Favorite places we have travelled to are Santorini Greece, Xcaret in the Mexican Riviera and Monaco.
In every day life I work in Information Technology as a manager of project managers and a Help Desk. I also do project management myself.
I like using the gifts that I've been given to help and support where I can doing things like reading for the blind, lectoring at my church, participating in my work community action committee and now hostessing on HysterSisters.
My journey to HysterSisters was quite unexpected, I had been having a couple of days of heavy bleeding in an otherwise regular period. In the span of 3 weeks in Novemer 2008, I had a D&C & hysteroscopy which found unexpected cancer and led to a total hysterectomy and BSO (removal of both tubes and ovaries). Luckily during this period I found HysterSisters and the site helped keep me sane during a very stressful time. It also helped me find out that my gyn wasn't correct in saying the surgery couldn't be done laproscopically, I found out about daVinci and found my gynecological oncologist (gyn-onc).
I have found much support at HysterSisters helping me understand the craziness of my sudden menopause. Also giving me the chance to vent and find out that it's okay and in these situations quite normal.
There is pretty much no topic that there isn't someone with experience with it or minimally words of support and encouragement.
My suggestion - if you don't seem to be getting the support you need from your doctors, keep looking and asking questions. Keep looking for options and be gentle with yourself.
