Hi
I had my TAH a week ago today (in fact would just have been getting back from theatre about now) I'm doing great!!!

Had to be at the hospital at 7am and was taken to theatre at 8am - no time to worry. Woke up back in my room where they taught me to use a morphine pump (I was in charge of my pain). The morphine was making me feel sick so I was a little worried about pain control. The nurses told me not to worry that no one was allowed to suffer pain and they would find a way to control it and they did!!

Had no problem getting out of bed, I had kitchen chairs ready at home by the bed and in the bathroom - told my partner to put them back in the kitchen as I was fine. I was taught the log role movement by the nurses which really helped.

It was great to be home on day 4. Next day went for a walk to the end of our street and today, day 7 walked to our village and back (about half a mile)

Top tips,
keep moving and doing the exercises (keeps the wind at bay)
keep on top of the pain allows you to keep moving and doing your exercises and you to get a good night sleep which really helps.
give in when your body tells you to.
I only had 2 weeks notice of my op and read about getting fit for the op. So, I did a lot of upper body and abdom training in the two weeks leading up to my op - I do believe that has helped.

Good luck!!
