Well Wednesday came and went and the majority of it was a blur thanks to the meds. My surgery was scheduled to begin at 8:30 in the morning but didn't get started until around noon or a little after. I have no idea why it was delayed and really don't care at this point. The last thing I remember was asking one of the guys in the OR if my butt was gonna fit on that table. They are awful tiny. He assured me it would and the next thing I know is it's almost Thursday morning. My Folley was removed around 2 am Thursday morning and I was up out of bed and walking around by 7ish (that's when the meds started clearing my system). Was able to use the bathroom on my own, so I was discharged around 9am on Thursday. Came home with a pain in my right kidney area and my right lower abdominal area. Figured I'd give it a couple of days and see if it would go away on it's own. It didn't so I headed to the ED on Saturday. I told the first doc right away that it felt like I have a UTI that is trying to get into my kidneys. Well after 9+ hours, very few visits from a doc., pain meds that burned like heck going through my IV port, a CT scan and a whole lot of frustration. It was confirmed. My surgical site is just fine (mild bruise, but that's typical--Duh I told them it felt like a bruise), and ****drumroll**** I have a UTI (also found out I have a 2mm kidney stone woohoo). So anyway, I'm home again with antibiotics and different pain meds and I'm doing great. The TVH itsself was no big deal for me. I was able to get up afterwards (with a hand to lean on) and walk around with no problems. If I had been able to come out of this without the UTI then I would be sitting pretty right now. So far at this point I haven't experienced any of the feelings that my doc said I might experience (depression, fear, etc) but I'm also doing a lot of writing and talking about it as well. Okay, so that's me 4 days after....not too interesting as you can see, but figured I'd share anyway.
Thanks for reading.
