Hello! Yay -- I made it!!!!
I pray all others are doing well after their surgeries yesterday.
I had the DaVinci Robotic Surgery on Monday morning at 9:15am. The doctor kept my ovaries (said they were 'pristine') and took my uterus and cervix. My uterus was delivered thru my va-jay-jay. I have five incisions across my belly -- but NOT in my belly button. The incisions are way above that in my abdomen.
My surgery was almost 3hrs and I was in recovery for almost two hours. I was awake in recovery with NO pain, NO nausea, NO vomiting or dizziness at all. I was alert and talking. I usually have breathing problems (I have asthma and sleep apnea) after surgery, but NOTHING this time. I am truly amazed and I am truly thankful to God.
After being wheeled to my room; I was alert with NO sickness and was awake. They did NOT give me a PCA pump of Morphine, I just had Tordal in my IV when needed as well as Percocet by mouth. I had NO grogginess at all. Matter of fact, I was awake until 11:30pm, shooting the breeze w/my family! Don't get me wrong; I was in pain after the anesthesia started to wear off. It felt like cramping and horrible labor pains. I had coughed by accident and I screamed in pain and was crying.
My catheter came out this morning at 6am and I was able to pee without incident at around 10am. My bladder was horribly full and no one had got me up, so they rushed to get a bed pan and it came gushing out! LOL No burning, so I am grateful for this as well.
They got me up after breakfast (I ate a little scrambled egg, some muffin and a piece of sausage patty) and had me walk. Wasn't awful, but wasn't pleasant either. My belly wobbles and I feel like everything is going to fall out. The pain is mostly in my incisions where they BURN (blech).
I came home this evening (7/21) even though I had not passed gas yet at the hospital or have a bm. I do have some gas pains and rumblings, and I finally "tooted" about an hour ago!! I have not had a bm yet and I am nervous about that as I had a full lunch of some carrots and some thin, thin slices of roast beef (I was so hungry after being on a liquid diet since Saturday) and soup for dinner at home this evening.
I am walking the halls in my house, just to get some movement, as sitting or laying down is causing a lot of discomfort. I am only on Tylenol #3 and have a bottle of 800mg Motrin if I need it. I did take some Senekot-S and some Phayzme earlier.
Everyone keeps saying how good I look -- even my dr exclaimed it yesterday. I am just thankful to be alive and come out on the other side!!! Just concerned about the bowel movement issue; they kept listening to my tummy in the hospital and said I had good bowel sounds, so I pray that something will start to "move" soon.
Best,
Chrys
