Well ladies, there has been no regrets.I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy, cervix and uterus removed, with ovaries left alone. I arrived early for check in with my stupid happy jammies, I got some looks. After that, I was sent into pre-op room where I was looked after and prepped. There was no enema, or shaving, just i.v.s ect.. and warm blankets, and they repeatedly asked what I was there for. They asked if I wanted my sweetie to visit before surgery, I said hes in the waiting room, ask for sugarlips. Talked with the Dr. and her crew, and was wheeled into the room, moved to the op bed(it was narrow and had a weird dip in the lower area). Some relaxing juice was put in my i.v. and I remembered an oxy mask put on and then I woke up in my room. The surgery took about 2 hours. I got lucky, it was a private room!! I also thought I could eat and ordered some chicken and rice. Do not do this! With the morphine pump I didnt have the gumption to swallow and almost choked ( several times! I kept forgeting). Later that night, there was a missed communication and I thought I didnt need to push the pain button, well I woke up screaming and it took about 1 1/2 hours to calm down and ease the pain.Wow, it was somthing. So, keep pushing that button. I learned my lesson and please do not wait till the pain is coming on. It takes forever to get back to comfortable. cath was removed and I could pee all by myself!! Sooo good!!What was funny is that my mom asked my sweet about the surgery, and he told her that my ovaries were fine and the fibriods were removed. The way he was telling it that nothing was done. I freaked out and made him ask if my uterus was gone! The people he asked didnt know, and I had to wait for the surgeon, I made her tell me twice and write it down! I could have brained him! I wanted that thing out of me, and to think it didnt happen!!Later I went home (hug that pillow!) and slept. My sweetie grabbed about 6 pillows for me to use, and I was very grateful. Then I got a cold, which prolonged things a bit, and I got yipped at for not telling my doctor right away. Also the percocets wernt working well, and I had to have that changed. Just tell your Dr. they are there to help you. Everything turned out better than I expected, I was surprised how well my honey took care of me, AS THIS WAS UNEXPECTED!!Without his help, and my moms, I would have been ok but with it, Ive been healing well. Ive been sneaking out of the house, to get a coffee, and since I live in a small community I tell people that they did not see me and no conversation occured.I dont want my honey to know!!Hes been on my case for not resting enough. Next week I'll be going back to work, probly half days. Tough poop for them. Anyways, the items to bring, and the advice from these women were on the spot, and I am grateful. Also , dont forget to say thank you to the staff!! It really goes along way with them.
