Ask A Doctor
My story starts with a sudden gush of blood the week before my daughters wedding. I went to my doctor feeling like a hypochondriac. she ordered an ultasound..Had to put it off an extra week because I had this wedding!
After the ultrasound they wanted an MRI done...this totally freaked me out because I knew that meant they were looking for cancer. (little background, I had started working full time in a bakery one year before ..I was incredibally fatigued and useless after work everyday..no energy for life functions at all)
After the MRI I kept calling the doctors office because I never heard back..all this time I am still bleeding heavily after an entire inth, I finally make an appt. When I go in they say we didn't see a mass you should see an OB GYN for an ablation.
I finad a good OB she does a biopsy and tells me I have hyperplasia...not cancer , but can become cancer later. I have a family history fo lots oc cancer so I opt for historectomy. I need the bladder sling anyway so it's a good chance to be knocked out for the surgery.
turns out I am completely terrified of surgery. The first time I go to get checked in the anesthesiologist sends me to a cardiologist because my heart rate was only 42.
Everthing chekcs out ok cardio guy says it is just a vegal response. two weeks later I am scheduled again. I am still terrified, but I take a book with me to keep my brain busy.
Long story long..I got to the other side this time. I woke up in recovery just itchy! They gave me benadryl for that. My surgery was at 2"30 and I was home by that time the next day. I actually peed, passed gas , and had a little bm before I left the hospital. [i] am so lookinf forward to not having devilitating fatigue, bleeding...and I am hoping hoping for some of that extra breast fluffiness some sisters have mentionede..that would just be the best Christmas presnet for me ever. I am not having much pain..but i am enjoying the percoset anywsay...helps me to stay calm and not do too much housework right? Ok i will shut up now. Hope this is encouraginbg for other chicken heads like me
