I went in at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept 24, 2009. I wasn't nervous at all. My surgery was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. and was in time. The surfery lasted for about 3 hours. I remember waking up in a lot of pain..pain..pain. But soon the nurses got my pain under control with Torodol every 6 hours and the Dilodid pump every 8 minutes. I lost a good bit of blood during surgery so I didn't get up until the next evening. Overall I was fine and amazed because I read so many stories...most of them bad so I expected the worse. It wasn't bad at all. On 9/25 in the evening I started walking the halls, to move the gas. Then a sweet little nurse came along and offered me prune juice. Although it tasted terrible, I was passing gas about 30 minutes later. !! Also, my doctor changed my meds to Motrin 800mg and 2 percusets..that was a lot better and I didn't itch!! I was released this morning 9/26 with Motrin 800mg, percuset, iron tabs, and a stool softener. I floowed all instructions as my Doctor said. I'm being pampered by my children, mom, and hubby. I'm having very little pain-mostly gas. Also I haven't had any post-op bleeding. I have on the abdominal binder which they gave me in the hospital and overall- I'd rate my level of discomfort about a 3. So for all you Princesses in waiting, good luck and just relax and follow your doctor's instructions. Be blessed.
